A Triple-bill

#contemporary theatre

Digging a hole, and the spring flows.
It cleanses our body and soul.
A holistic being rises from the ruin.

June 2018, _ao_ao_ing presented its first performance season "Digging A Hole" at Shanghai Ming Museum of Contemprary Art. All paying tributes to real-life events, the season consists of three interweaving productions: "Soup", "Title IX: Book of Survivor", "You Are My Water.” Same year, ”Soup” and "You Are My Water.” were invited to perform at Wuzhen Theatre Festival.

Debut Performance at McaM 2018

Soup

A quiet kitchen. A pot of boiling chicken soup. Three young girls are waiting for the nutritional chicken soup. In the shadow of their mothers and grandmothers, they play with naïvety and dreams, not aware that the nature's reproductive mechanism has begun its operation. Soup is a theatrical poem written with senses. It is about the body of a woman or a female animal.

Title IX: Book of Survivor

A sexual assault survivor's story, a minority's odyssey.
Under the trees, by the water, where life is nurtured. Human civilization rises from the ground, where systems of power and rape culture reign supreme. Violence cracks a body.
What happened? Is it my fault?
What am I? How do I survive?

Title IX: Book of Survivor

You Are My Water

A fish tank and people dancing. Men, women, obsession and control, all hunters and preys, suck on each other’s breath. A themed party and a live experiment: a couple who participated in an earlier 48-hour intimacy laboratory returned to perform. What do you see? What do you see, when you see them?
